Yeah, Fine, but Who Is Mark Orwoll, Anyway?
Mark Orwoll is a travel writer and author. He was on the staff of Travel + Leisure magazine for 30 years, most recently as the International Editor. He writes now for such outlets as Condé Nast Traveler, Slate, the Los Angeles Times, and Fodor’s Travel. In 2025, he was the silver winner of the Lowell Thomas Travel Journalist of the Year awards. He’s been to nearly 100 countries and written stories about most of them. He’s also the author of four books, including his recent travel memoir, Just One Little Hitch (Pleasant Villain Press).
